Upcoming Glynn Vivian Art Gallery Events


Glynn Vivian Art Gallery Offsite invites you to the opening of Let’s see what happens… a major international offsite exhibition, featuring the work of seven artists, four from Wales and three from China, taking place in various venues across Swansea city centre.

Let’s see what happens… includes work by Tim Davies, Yingmei Duan, Paul Emmanuel, Owen Griffiths, Maleonn, Fern Thomas and Zeng Huanguang and demonstrates a variety of working methods including painting, performance, video installation and socially engaged practice.

Exhibitions open Friday 27 September, 2-5pm. Admission free.
Opening Reception, Monkey Bar, 6-8pm. Everyone welcome.

Meet the artists and curator from our Let’s see what happens… exhibition, in a series of artist talks and tours. Beginning on Saturday 28 September at 2pm join curator of the exhibition, Karen MacKinnon, for an ‘In Conversation’ between all the artists at the YMCA Swansea.

Our popular Community Café continues on Thursday 26 September, 5.30pm – 6.30pm at the YMCA Swansea. Glynn Vivian Conservation Officer, Carol Lyons, will be talking about current conservation treatments on a number of paintings from the Richard Glynn Vivian bequest and discussing the issues around conserving your collection.

Children’s Workshops

Book now for the popular Saturday Family Workshops, 10am – 1pm, at the YMCA, Swansea. Explore different animation techniques and help them create an animated film about the ‘Adventures of Richard Glynn Vivian’ and his travels around the world, Saturday 28 September and 2 & 26 October. Let’s see what happens… performance artist, Yingmei Duan, presents a unique opportunity to work with her in a series of three Performance Workshops to enhance your performance skills. Open to anyone aged 14-24, workshops take place Tuesday 8, 15 & 22 October, 5.30pm – 7.30pm at the YMCA Swansea. All activities are free, booking essential, call 01792 561900.

Glynn Vivian Young People’s Film Club continues with ’12 films to watch before you grow old’. Join us for free cult films and popcorn for Jake Gyllenhaal’s teen sci-fi drama, Donnie Darko (15), on Tuesday 29 October, from 5pm.
