Glynn Vivian Offsite New Spring Activities

While the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery is being refurbished, our offsite exhibitions and activities continue at the YMCA, Swansea and at various venues in the city centre. See our spring programme of events and workshops, or join our mailing list to receive a brochure. All events are free, everyone welcome.

Time, A Hesitant Smile

Glynn Vivian Offsite presents Time, a Hesitant Smile as a pop-up cinema. Over three consecutive Thursdays, see a selection of films which examines the gap between science fiction and reality and the human fascination with time travel.

Join curators Jacqui Davies and Joseph Constable in conversation Thursday 5 February, 5.30pm, before the first screening. Screenings 5, 12 & 19 February from 6.30pm at Vue Cinema, Swansea.

Young Art Force

Young Art Force is for young people aged 14 – 24 who are currently not in education, employment or training, giving them the opportunity to have a voice and express themselves through art.

Each project is led by the young people’s interests, working towards Arts Award and Agored Cymru. Our next project takes place Monday – Friday, 16-20 February, 10am-3pm at the YMCA, Swansea.

Artist Talk, Andrew Morris

Artist Andrew will be discussing his current practice with us on Thursday 26 February at the YMCA, from 5.30pm. Andrew graduated from Swansea Metropolitan / University of Wales Trinity Saint David with a BA (Hons) in Photography in the Arts and won the first ‘Wales International Young Artists Award’ presented to him by the British Council Wales for his What’s Left Behind? series. No booking required.

This February we are launching our online podcast Glynn Vivian On Air. Catch up on past events, interviews and dialogues from the Gallery’s archive, including talks, discussions and conversations from invited curators, artists and creative practitioners.

Artist In Residence

Our current Artist in Residence Joan Jones, works in a variety of mediums, including song, live performance and zine distribution. Join Joan for an un-Valentine’s day party on Friday 13 February at the YMCA from 4.30pm.

Joan is welcoming all jilted lovers for a feast of performance, music and fun. After Party will take place at Mozarts from 7pm (18+ only). Free event, no booking required.

Glynn Vivian Road Show

This February we will be visiting the Community Pod in Morfa Shopping Park to share our collection with you.

Come along for an afternoon of children’s activities and choose an artwork from the Gallery’s collection that you would like to see on display. Road Show takes place on Saturday 21 February, 12-4pm, No booking required.
